I work in media and advertisement , and my husband is a corporate lawyer in New York. We met in high school “by chance” online. He was an inner city kid in an early college high school, while I was living in the suburbs of NY. I had only been to the city a handful of times, and he had never heard of my small town in Westchester. After mistaking me for someone else and following me on Twitter, we quickly realized that we did not know each other but would talk often via webcam chats and BBM. We had pure interest in each others lives since our day to days were so different. I had cheer practice and football games, while he was half way to his college degree. We met for the first time at the Levi store in SoHo! (Back when denim vests were all the rage). We didn’t start dating until college, but once we did New York City quickly became the heartbeat of our relationship.
I knew I wanted my dress to feel classic New York with a bit of flare. Lucia was the dress that brought me to Wona, and it was one of the first dresses I ever tried on. After months of trying on different styles at different boutiques, I still couldn’t get her out of my head. I knew I wanted to say yes to the dress, but make her my own! I immediately began to work on customizations with a tailor that specifically works with Wona brides. We played around with different neck lines, fabrics and embellishments to make the dress feel a little more like me. We landed on a pearl embellishments to the neckline with a matching detachable belt. Once I put it on, it felt like the exact dress I had dreamed up in my head. It was such a beautiful moment, in my heart I always knew Lucia was the one the from the start.
