Wedding dress shopping in New York rewards planning. This guide covers when to begin, what to bring, how a made-to-order gown is built, and what happens during an appointment at our Fifth Avenue flagship.
When to start
We recommend beginning your search 10 to 12 months before your wedding date. Production of a made-to-order gown starts from six months, and your gown is cut to your measurements in our European ateliers — so the date sets the calendar.
The process runs in a clear sequence:
- Appointment. You try on gowns with a stylist and choose your silhouette.
- Measurements. We take your measurements in the showroom.
- Deposit. Your order is confirmed and enters production.
- Production. From six months, depending on your wedding date.
- Arrival. Your gown arrives at our Fifth Avenue showroom.
- Alterations. Our seamstress completes the final fit in New York.
Brides marrying in peak season — May through October — should begin earlier, because the calendar fills first. If your date is closer than six months, ask about our in-stock gowns and sample sale: both are available to take sooner.

How many salons to visit
Two to three appointments give you a real point of comparison. More than that tends to blur the silhouettes together rather than clarify them. Book them across separate days.
What to bring
Nude seamless underwear, shoes with a heel height close to what you plan to wear, and your hair as you imagine it on the day. Bring one or two people whose opinion you trust — a smaller group keeps the decision yours.

What made-to-order means at WONÁ
Every WONÁ Concept and Eva Lendel gown is produced to your measurements in our European ateliers. Sizes run XS to 7XL (US 4–24), and our average sample in the showroom is a bridal size 42 (US 8), with a selection of smaller and larger sizes to try. Customization is part of the process: necklines, sleeves, closures and detachable elements can be adjusted through our Custom Gown Service.
Gowns range from $3,000 to $11,000.
What happens at your appointment
Appointments run approximately one hour and are private. A stylist works with you through the collections — WONÁ Concept, WONA Couture, Eva Lendel and Rebel — and you try on the silhouettes that suit your venue and your day. If you find your gown, we take your measurements in the showroom and confirm the order with a deposit.
Our showroom is by appointment only. Weekend appointments carry a $100 booking fee, which is applied to your purchase.

Alterations
Nearly every gown is altered for a precise final fit. Our seamstress carries out alterations here in New York, typically across two to three fittings. Alterations are charged separately from the gown.
If you live outside the New York area, we can ship your gown so you can complete fittings locally.
